Elizabeth Maute is a successful graphic designer with over 10 years of experience. Elizabeth’s interest in the field of graphic arts began while she in high school after enrolling in the BOCES Visual Communication program her junior and senior year. Through the guidance and inspiration of Liz’s first graphic design teacher, she decided to continue with graphic design and turn it into a career. Beginning as a graphic designer for a silk-screen company in Buffalo, NY, Liz has been honing her craft since 1999.
Liz has an AAS Degree in Graphic Arts and Printing (2000) and an AS Degree in Humanities (2001) from Erie Community College. She began freelancing as Elizabeth Rose Designs in 2001 creating designs for Gamble Printing and Mailing Inc. and advertisement design for Sports and Leisure Magazine, as well as maintaining their website.
While most designers obtain a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, Elizabeth was inspired by her love for poetry and literature. She decided to pursue a BS Degree in English/Professional Communications (2004) at Hilbert College. Following her intuition has proved to pay off in recent years. The knowledge Liz gained from the English degree has made her a stronger communicator in the graphic arts field.
As Elizabeth continued to expand her freelance business, she was encouraged by a friend to pursue teaching. She completed Career and Technical Education classes through Buffalo State College for a certification in teaching graphic arts.
In 2006 Liz completed her formal education with a Master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) through St. Bonnaventure University. While pursuing her Master’s Degree, Liz met Elizabeth Ortega from Miami, Florida. After opening ECO Strategic Communications, Elizabeth called upon her friend Liz Maute to help with website construction and graphic design. The partnership between ECO and Elizabeth Rose Designs has proved to be a success.
Besides being the owner of Elizabeth Rose Designs, Liz has went on to positions as Web Content and Marketing Communications Coordinator for Niagara Wine Trail USA and Adjunct Assistant Professor – Visual Communication and Graphic Arts at Erie Community College; both of which she still holds today.
