Education:
My interest in the field of
graphic arts began in 1997 when I enrolled in the BOCES Visual
Communication program through my high school. Through the guidance
and inspiration of my first graphic design teacher, I decided to
continue my graphics education through the Erie Community College
Graphics and Printing program.
While finishing my AAS Degree in
Graphic Arts and Printing (2000), I also completed an AS Degree
in Humanities (2001) at Erie Community College. About half
a year later, I was inspired to build upon my love for poetry and
literature with a BS Degree in English/Professional Communications (2004) at Hilbert College. From 2004-2006 I took classes towards certification for teaching graphic arts and completed my student
teaching requirement through Buffalo State College.
In 2006 I completed
my formal education with a Master’s degree in Integrated Marketing
Communications (IMC) through St. Bonnaventure University. IMC is a marketing management concept that is designed to make all aspects of communication such as advertising, sales promotion, public relations, and direct marketing work together as a unified force, rather than each area working in isolation. The goal of IMC is to create and sustain a strategic, consistent message in the marketing mix of a campaign.
Work Experience:
In 1999 I began working full time as the graphic designer for BC Image Group, a division of Buffalo Circuits Inc., a family-owned company which specializes in screen-printing directly onto glassware and cylindrical packages such as wine bottles.
I began freelancing as Elizabeth
Rose Designs in 2001 working with Gamble Printing and Mailing
Inc. as well as designing advertisements and maintaining the website for Sports
and Leisure Magazine, a free Buffalo/Rochester publication.
Since then, I have worked with many companies and organizations designing
everything from trade show displays, wine labels, websites, brochures,
identity packages, photo retouching and signs. My clients include several local companies such as the Niagara Wine Trail USA, Passport Wine & Spirits, and LynOaken Farms to name a few.
Graphic Arts Technology:
I am proficeint in both Macintosh and PC computers however, keeping with industry standards is very important to me. I do all of my design work using an Intel-Macintosh computer with the very latest operating system along with the latest versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash and Acrobat.
